Good MorningNeeding some advice plz...I have brought a LG 50 inch plasma with inbuilt freeviw... When I received the tv we went to plug in the UHF aerial cable and found tht the cable has been cut and i have been advised by aerial people tht its gonna cost me about $150 to get new cables connected... My question is Can I jst buy a digital top set box as I do hve a sky dish with cords intact and would it work with my tv?? I have not been able to get a straight answer from anyone/shops or even going digital help desk as to weather or not it would work... Im jst trying to not spend so much money as I know I can get a top set box from around $70... Please any help and or advice would be great...

Transonic TC2884STB no pic and wont change channel
Transonic TC2884STB no pic and wont change channel.Exactly that, Transonic TC2884STB If I turn it on (with the av leads plugged into the TV) I get a small icon in the bottom left corner (looks sorta like a speaker with a line through it but pressing the mute button doesn't get rid of it) and thats the only thing displayed, if I try changing channels using the remote or the transonic box itself they don't change, the transonic box just displays "12" on its display and the TV displays the blue av screen with the aforementioned icon in the corner, pressing any keys on the remote do nothing except the power off key which turns it on or off.I have had the device for quite a while (I think I don't remember when i bought it and I don't have the receipt anymore), is there a way to reset, reboot the deviceAs I have lost the manual the only thing I could find was thishttp://www.orientalpacific.com/backend/files/products/manuals/432/Updated%20Manual%2017.11.11.docwhich appears to be the manual but has no info on reseeting the boxThanks in advance

Confused Regarding Optus D1 and D2
We watch Duna TV quite happily via a satellite dish. Recently my wife said that Duna TV was broadcasting a music saying that parameters were changing and viewers should make the appropriate adjustments. Not seeing the message myself I did some investigating. Based on the Duna TV web-site the reception parameters for Australia/New Zealand are as follows:Australia and New Zealand:Satellite: Optus D2Position: 152°EFrequency: 12734 MHzPolarisation: verticalSymbol rate: 22500 ks/sFEC: 3/4DVB-S, MPEG-2, MPEG Layer IISo I then go to menu settings of my satellite receiver (Strong) and do a auto-scan. Duna TV is found again, along with a myriad of Arab and religious channels. All good. However I notice that when I scan, it is scanning Optus D1. You can see a screen-cap here. That's weird. So I scan Optus D2. No channels are found at all. You can see the settings here. I confirmed that Duna is being received via D1 - see screencap here. So why can I get Duna on Optus D1 when everything I read says it is broadcast on D2? Are my settings for D2 incorrect and hence the reason I can't tune any channels? Maybe my satellite dish is pointing the wrong way?Any thoughts from those way more knowledgeable on this than I am?

Can I use my Panasonic DMR-EH57 DVD Recorder with my Built-In Freeview Samsung TV?
Hi all, this is my first visit here.About 3 months ago we bought a Samsung TV with built-in Freeview in anticipation of the switch to digital only in Auckland. We had used a Panasonic DMR-EH57 DVD Recorder with our previous TV so I just connected the new TV in the same fashion (after installing the UHF aerial and using in place of the rabbit ears - archaic, I know).So the connections were aerial RF cable to RF in on DVD Recorder, RF out to RF in on TV, and component AV Out on DVD to AV In on TV (These are the red, yellow & white ones - unsure of proper name). Digital Freeview channels worked fine on the TV, and previously stored channels in the DVD Recorder worked, although I had a suspicion they were analogue only, allowing us to record from the basic channels. Now, after the switch to Digital only on 1 December, when trying to watch through the DVD Recorder, all channels are empty. I attempted to re-tune and it said there were no channels found.I have read the manual, but that didn't help me. Is it possible for me to keep using this same DVD Recorder or will I need to buy a new one with a Digital tuner? Or alternately, will I need a set top box to decode Freeview into my DVD recorder?Any help will be greatly appreciated, if my kids don't get to watch their recorded "new Wiggles" every morning, I may have a mutiny on my hands.Apologies if I haven't provided enough detail, I am not all that savvy.Cheers

Advice with HD Homerun and Synology Video station software package?
Hi.I have a Synology NAS that has a Video station package that supports the HD Homerun TV Tuner.Is anyone successfully using this on NZ Freeview (DVB-T)? I have a friend who has one ans says it has trouble decoding Prime and Choice TV.Is anyone sucessfully using any other tuner(s) on a Synology? I am after at least 3 tuners so would look at 2 x HD homerun boxes if they work.Secondly Has anyone used the Synology Video station package to record NZ freeview? Freeview in Wellington
Is anyone else getting patchy Freeview reception in Wellington? I'm in Te Aro (Tory Street) and the reception has been breaking up often since the windy day we had on Saturday. I live in an apartment building and my immediate neighbours all get their TV through the Sky dish. I'm the only resident with poor man's TV on my floor, it seems. Before I nag our building manager to re-align the Freeview aerial, I'm just wondering if it's a more widespread problem affecting other people in Wellington.

Diplex with freeview satellite reciever
Fancy helping a non geek who hasn't gone onto freeview yet? I'm looking at a cheap recording decoder. I like the functions of the Dish TV satellite receiver S7070R but don't fancy the cutting out due to bad weather that satellite is notorious for. I was wondering if the diplex would allow me to connect to UHF. Or is there a cheap UHF decoder that records from the EPG? Cheers

Prime channel 'hiccup'
Maybe coincidence but ever since Wellington lost analogue we often get a blip or hiccup in the sound when watching Prime. This never happened earlier.About every two minutes there is a distinct cut in sound, not the picture, and doesn't occur with any other channel.Anyone got a clue as to why it's happening? Is it just my TV or other people in Wellington too?R.

Need advice about how to record tv now we've gone digital
We now have a UHF aerial going into our new LG Smart TV. At the same time we bought a blu ray player, thinking it would record as well. Thankfully we have not opened this and the shop said they will take it back. Stupidly again we didn't realise our old dvd player/recorder (Panasonic DMR-EH58) would no longer work. We then bought a Seagate HDD to record onto only to discover that we can not watch one programme and record another. Do we now need to buy a new dvd player/recorder? Please help, we obviously haven't thought this through and do not have heaps of money to keep buying stuff!Would we have been better off getting a satellite dish?!The HDD drive has now been initialised for the LG TV and the tv user guide says it will no longer work on a PC, more money wasted. Kind of mad at the man in the shop where we bought everything, he must have seen us coming!

Recording playback problem
I's started experiencing a rather strange phenomenon with my TV recordings .... sometimes the first few minutes of the recording will keep repeating itself from about 30 or 40 seconds earlier.Holding the fast forward button for a few minutes eventually gets to a spot where playback is normal.The recording was made using a DVB-S card in my PC, and the ProgDVD software. When viewing the recording on my PC, the problem still happens, yet the progress slider moves forward and the time counter increases!Weird stuff ... any ideas please?R.

Panasonic Series Link cant seem to control it
I have a Panasonic DMR BDT720 which is full of Millionaire Hotseat due to Series Link. No worries, I will turn off Series Link, but I cannot seem to do that. I go to the guide and for the channel and time Hotseat is on Series Link there is no S s that I can press the red record button which should now be labelled cancel in order to turn link off. Driving me batty. I deleted enough to that 1 hour is free in case that was an issue.Help!

Vesta 8300 reset?! HELP PLEASE
So I just bought a Vesta 8300 PVR Freeview Decoder from a trading site and it is password protected. it is without a remote so I am wondering if I can some how reset it or something. The last owner assured me it worked with her TV so can't understand why it won't with mine. I have know idea of the brand (other than it is a Vesta..) or what website or company to contact. It also didn't come with a manual. would be great to get some help :) thanks.

Not Getting All Channels on Freeview HD
Hi,I have 1 Samsung TV that has Freeview HD built in and upstairs I have a set-top box with Freeview HD aswell.On the set-top box I get 22 channels but on the Samsung TV I only get 11 channels. They are using the same antenna. I am not sure why, does anyone know why?Thanks.

Igloo video resolution
Hi, we have a Samsung builtin Freeview and it says TV1 is 1080. However we also have a Igloo in someone's bedroom and today we plugged it into the TV just for fun - TV1 said 720. Just minutes after. What's going on? Also rather than starting a diff thread - we tried the Xbox 360 also and just played a 1980s DVD movie and it said it was 1080. Is that enhanced or something?Cheers ..

Not picking up all transponders?
Hey there,I'm more of a software guy and definitely not experienced wish dishes and lnbs etc. My mates freeview box, I've changed the LNB frequency (old sky dish) and upon scanning can get some channels, Mediaworks channels all okay, Parliament TV, but it seems the TVNZ transponder isn't being picked up at all (looked at D1 online and the one with TV1, 2, +1, +2 definately isn't showing up with its channels.Whats the likely issue? LNB? Dish allignment? Cabling? The box was fine at the last address/dish. Cheers for any thoughts :)

Injecting a sky feed into DVB-T
Hi,Looking to have the ability to show Sky on multiple TV's around the place broadcast over DVB-T rather than analogue, does anyone know a good solution for doing this.Use case (And I haven't checked sky's T&C's on this) but most of the time we would like to show BBC world in the reception area, but for the odd client function we would like to show Sky Sport on the board rooms big screen plus a tv in the joining lunch room, but without having to move the sky decoder. Decoder would likely be a MySky so HDMI is available. TV's/Freeview DVB-T boxes would hopefully tune into a locally broadcast digital channel. Thanks

Firmware version 3.18NZ and 2Lostkiwi's mods.
Hi all.Is there a version of Firmware 3.18NZ that has had Ian's patches applied to it? If there is could someone please point me in the right direction to obtain it, e.g. post a link or put in a how to.Currently I am using 3.17NZ with the 2lostkiwi's patch, but I am having trouble with CH40 (Canterbury Television bookings) which I hope may be helped or even fixed by the use of 3.18NZ but I really really don't want to lose Ian's modifications.Thanks in advance for any help that is provided.
