As the topic says, is there a database or similar available that you can search by model number to see if a TV is Freeview Plus compatible? If not, what is the best/easiest way for me to tell? The model number is UA55H7000 bought last year. Thanks in advance.

MTV3600 - The old Remote Problem

I found the my problem was a lack of carbon deposit on the bottom of the rubber buttons where they contacted the pcb contacts and I struggled to find a solution until a friend offered me some wire glue to try. This came ina 9ml pot and consisted of carbon powder in a non toxic binding agent. It was the consistency of black treacle.I tiny quantity on a fine paint brush was easily deposited on to the faulty rubber pads. It seemed to dry quite quickly, but to be safe I gave it 24hrs in a warm environment to cure before reassembling my unit.So far, the buttons work flawlessly, but I can't say yet, how long the fix will last,Searching around I found the product, Wire Glue, is available from Jaycar, in NZhttp://www.jaycar.co.nz/Service-Aids/Chemical-Aids/Adhesives/Wire-Glue-9ml/p/NM2831A little pricey at $12.00, but it looks to do the job.

Panasonic DMR-PWT550GZ for FreeviewPlus Recording

Hi, I wondered if anyone has purchased the Panasonic DMR-PWT550GZ for FreeviewPlus recording etc. and if you could give your views on this device. It allows you to simultaneously record two programs with two tuners. It seems to be a good option if you want a bit more than just FreeviewPLus recording as it is also a 3D Blu-ray disc / DVD player and it gives you 4K video playback and it supports Netflix. However, this model does not allow you to copy from its hard drive to external media, such as DVDs, USB drives, SD cards etc.Although it only has a 500GB hard drive, it does allow you to "register" up to 8 additional external HDDs, but these can't be used on any other devices. It's now available for about $499 - $599, depending on where you buy it.Thanks for your comments.Fred

Unable to format hard disk on Magic TV 3600

Hi all. I'm been looking though some earlier topics as I've been having trouble with my Magic TV 3600, which now claims that there is no hard disk, though at boot up, I can hear it whirring around, variably, as though the system is trying to read something from it. Anyway, I guess I need a new hard disk but thought I'd try reformatting the original one, first. I realise this probably won't help, from other posts, but I at least wanted to check it. However, the procedure doesn't work for me.I put in a USB stick with firmware on it (currently 3.23 beta, but I had 3.20 on the stick, and installed, earlier, but no different), get into rescue mode and it detects the firmware on the USB stick. When I press 15900 the display is still at the original FOUND message. I tried this many times, both without upgrading the firmware and after upgrading the firmware.I'm guessing that it's not offering to format the disk because it thinks there is no disk. But I want to make sure that the disk can be formatted, if I replace it. If not, is there a way to format the disk correctly in a PC? I'm happy to do that.Any suggestions welcome.

Hi Def or not

Just in conversation with a chap in the UK - comparing Panasonic DVD Recorders.Mine's a DMR-XW440 and the comment is, it may/does not receive HiDef because it doesn't have the DVB-T2 tuner. The manual says it's a DVB-T tuner and that it's DR recording mode is 'Partial TS'. What's that ?It certainly looks like Hi Def, but it is really not, perhaps just "close to" ?

Panasonic XW390

Hey Everyone...I've got a DVD recorder, Panasonic XW390 which I've had for a couple of years now...Is it just me or is this thing an absolute dog? It's always been a sod - you cannot for example record something from TV3 and then choose something else from TV3+1 as it overlaps one to the other and can't handle it - it occasionally misses recording stuff and now, more recently is missing more than it records... or it records 30 seconds worth and gives up...I'm wondering what on earth to do next... Do I muck around with it and try to resolve the problem, do I cut my losses and get something else and if so, what - Do the newer Panasonic devices have these dreadful issues?Anyone else had these issues - and did you resolve them?

Ultimate Sky cable cutting device

I've just installed a friend's JU series Samsung TV and was very impressed with it's features. With just the one device he now hasNetflix (US)All UK smart hub apps including BBC iPLayer, ITV, All4 etcNZ Freeview channels (in HD where available)Built in 2 tuner PVR with excellent grid based HD EPG Ability to record from EPG (including series link) As easy to use as MySky or Tivo. (external HDD required)But here's the kicker...FreeviewPlus works perfectly. ie he has direct access to NZ on Demand channels from the EPG (despite smart hub country being set to UK)Only change from MySky setup was installing UHF aerial and Unotelly. The Samsung JU series has the new Tizen OS so I presume the lower end J series would work just as well.

Network service stops during recording: Panasonic PWT550GZ: Netflix invalid during recording

Hi, can anyone tell me please why the Panasonic PWT550 doesn't allow you to go on internet and access items such as Netflix when the unit is recording a Freeview TV programme? When you push the Netflix button on the PWT550's remote when a recording is in progress you get the message "Invalid during recording"!Because we do most of our Netflix viewing in the evenings, it would have been good if the PWT550 could have recorded TV programmes as well as allowing access to internet! Are there any "workarounds" for this?RegardsFred

My FreeviewPlus aerialbox exhibits bizarre non-cooperation (catch-up content only)

I give up. I hate life.

My T2100 FreeviewPlus aerialbox won't play a lot of the content I want to watch.

It will play Maori TV content.

It will play the pre-roll ads for TVNZ and Mediaworks content.

It won't play the actual catchup programmes.

It does this over WiFi connections.

It does this over LAN connections.

It does this even when I plug it directly into the router.

My PC, on the same connection, will play the desired content.

The TV is 8m from the router, WiFi is a good speed at that location, LAN looks to be very good.

I have a very good VDSL2+ connection, consistently running downloads at 30Mb/s (even after 2degrees took over.)

My T2100 has been replaced, software upgraded, and TVNZ-initially helpful-have got bored and wandered off. They did ask their 'app people', and one of their people who uses Snap checked that it would work on Snap's Auckland service.

Freeview themselves were barely interested at all.

Any ideas? At all?

The local computer-workshop geeks suggested it's a DRM issue, which is what I'm guessing, but I don't see anything I can change. They also suggested it might be the HDMI cable I use, so I tried a loaner - no change.

I use a Snap wired landline in Taranaki, and it has an IPv4 address that is static in practice if not name.

I am sad. %^(

I work nights and specifically bought the box to be able to pick and choose some TV.

Can I watch BVN

I've got a Sky dish on my roof that has been there, untouched, for 15 years or so.Hanging of it I've got a Freeview satellite decoder and a MySky box.I'm quite keen to watch BVN, according to their website, these are the details to receive it in NZ Satellite Optus D2 Transponder 5L Position 152° East Frequency 12.519 GHZ Polarization Vertical Symbol Rate 22.500 System DVB-S FEC 3/4 My questions:Would I need an additional dish, or can the current one be somehow adapted for this? (without losing Sky obviously)Do I need another decoder, or is my current Freeview one up to the job?Anything else?Any idea of costs to get me up an running? I assume I'd have to get a bloke (or woman) in. Any recommendations? I'm in Porirua/Whitby.

Can't get TVHeadend to pick up any Freeview channels (DVB-S)

I had a nice little TVHeadend server (v3.4) running for a couple of years with a single DVB-S tuner in my Ubuntu home server, streaming to two Kodi clients. Everything worked nicely.Recently I upgraded my home server to a new box and installed Proxmox so I can run OpenVZ containers for easier backing up and maintenance. As a result I had to re-install TVHeadend and ended up with the latest version v4.0.6. I went through the configuration steps and managed to get TVH recognising my tuner and it seems to auto-tune all the muxs available on Optus D1. Including the Freeview ones, 12456 and 12483. After finishing the scan it finds about 21 and 17 services on those two MUXs respectively, but none of those are Freeview channels. I can get Prime on 12546 and FOUR PLUS 1 on 12483 but nothing else, like TV1,2,3, Maori, Parliament (not that I ever watch it!) etc.I have tried countless different configurations but for some reason the Freeview channels just can't be found.I have 12456H and 12483H, 22500, QPSK, 3/4, configured which looks right according to all the sites detailing NZ Freeview.I have the tuner configured as a 'Universal LNB Only', there is no Circular LNB option which is what my old install was using.Any one got any ideas what could be wrong based on my symptions above? I should also mention I can happily watch Prime via the 12546 MUX so I know the system is working to some degree. Is it possible my dish is out of alignment slightly? Or if that was the case would I get no services at all? Have the frequencies changed recently or Freeview moved to another MUX? I haven't found anything online mentioning this but I may well have missed something.Open to trying anything at this stage - spent the last 2 weeks fighting with this trying to get it working. Turning to GZ as a last resort!!Cheers,Ben

Help Finding Signal?

Hey guys,I'm using a Sat Finder to try and fix a no signal issue, but the finder just won't change its tone no matter which way I turn the dish.I'm fairly certain I have it pointed the right way, and on the right angle, and I set the finder to '5' like it says in the manual, and it makes the high pitched tone, but the tone doesn't get higher or lower no matter where I adjust the dish. I haven't changed any settings on the Freeview box since i lost signal either.I've also noticed it makes the high pitched tone even if its not connected to the LNB, only to the box! I thought it needed to complete a circuit for it to do that?Any ideas? I've tried to contact a couple of installers here in Whangarei but have had no response. Plus I don't really want to pay a crazy amount of money for someone to just tweak it lolCheers,Hamish

Just running a loop of Kordia advert + 2 short cartoons. Panasonic tv shows 'no video' for a while, then it shows up. Hard to believe it, but my hardly ever used Extra Terrestrial box shows it ok, though the sound stutters. Info says it's 1080i and MPEG (unknown) audio.
