People are hogging up the standard def sky tv, so figured if I am going to put in UHF and a splitter. For the time being upstairs we have two bedrooms wanting it now out of the four rooms. Would you get a 4 way splitter incase for the future or would you just get a 2 way for now and upgrade later or is there no difference?Cheers.

What are the options for freeview boxes with manual timer recording ?

Mum has a Dish 1050 Freeview box and is getting annoyed with it randomly recording / not recording things, and has asked me what's around that will let her just tell the box what channel to record and when instead of going through the EPG like she did with the good old bulletproof vcr.I've spent the morning trawling around and have found the Panasonic boxes which would do it nicely (and also posts from people who have had nothing but trouble with them), what else is out there ? Thanks

TV reception problem

I have for some time been using a DVB-S card in my computer connected to a satellite dish and using ProgDVB for recordings etc. I can watch TV live or a recording on the PC monitor, or stream a recording through a media player to my large TV in the lounge (plasma, ethernet cabled).99% of the time it is perfectly fine, but occasionally the picture will be extremely pixelated, usually in blocks of straight lines, and sometimes a squeaking sound as the sound breaks up.The latest experinece was after recording the last Doctor Who ... all fine until halfway through the episode and then lots of picture and sound breakup.Since the problem also manifests itself on the computer monitor, I can eliminate the network cabling, media player, and TV.So, could be the DVB-S card, although a heap of other recordings when using it are perfectly fine, or the cable/dish. The dish is an ex Sky one, installed 5 years ago and used for Sky for 2 years before I commandered the cable. My daughter said that Sky would often break up in this fashion, particulalrly with rain or storms elsewhere over the country.Any thoughts on possible solutions would be welcome .... new DVB-S card? New dish/cable (both look fairly robust and clean? I've heard that the LNB's often breakdown ... worth looking at? Or is it just a foible of reception via satellite?Cheers,R.

No Maori TV, Prime, Trackside or Choice on Freeview

My mother-in-law's LG TV has suddenly decided to stop showing Maori TV, Prime, Trackside or Choice on Freeview. She can still get Prime on the analogue tuner, but not on the digital tuner. The EPG still comes up though - just no picture or sound for those channels. I've checked on my Panasonic TV and Blu Ray recorder, and we can get everything. We both live in Palmerston North. So I don't think it's a broadcast problem, or an antenna problem. We've tried re-auto tuning. Any ideas?

TV3 signal strength

I've got a DSE UHF aerial on the roof, connected to the old VHF coax cable, located in Devonport.

I've tried pointing it at Waiatarua and also the sky tower (using the correct polarity each time). On each transmitter the signal strength is about 30% less on the "TV3" mux. Overall the sky tower gives me a better signal (maybe because I can align it by eye).

The poor signal is a problem as I get intermittent pixelation on the TV, and periodic dropouts on my brand new HTPC. Severe loss of WAF ensues.

Is the tv3 mux really lower power, or is there a problem with my setup?

This has come around quickly! Anyone in the south still to sort out their old analogue gear? The area I live in will be switched off on 29 Sep. We have a TV, DVD/hard drive recorder and a combo DVD/video recorder that won't make the pass unless we get a couple of freeview boxes.

TRIPLE (or more) channel recorders?

Jus wondered if anyone had heard of the possiblity of triple (or more) channel recorders in the works. With the increase in disk space for these machines plus the increase in channels, sometimes you might want to record more than two channels at once and there's defintely the space for it.As it is, I have both a Panasonic twin tuner plus a magic TV. Doesn't happen often but its good to know I can record up to 4 channels at once if I want. :)

Hills satellite receiver issue

Hi AllHere's a heads up for anyone having pixilation issues with there Hills/Zinwell satellite boxes: There's currently an odd device issue with Hills satellite receivers.Hills & Zinwell - the manufacturers - became aware of this issue the day before yesterday, when they received reports of this issue & ran initial tests.

Hills technicians believe it's to do with the way the device STORES SIGNAL DATA, causing a DATABASE OVERLOAD and stops the HILLS satellite receiver from processing further incoming signals.

A TEMPORARY SOLUTION is to turn the device off AT THE WALL, wait 10 seconds, & turn it back on. This should clear the Database to allow incoming signal to be received again, this should allow viewing for about 3 - 5 hours, at which point the device Database is likely to become full again. Repeating the temporary fix will allow viewers to watch for an additional period of time.

Hills/Zinwell has reassured us that they are working on a solution and will need to run further diagnostics early next week before releasing a fix.Released 26/04/13

UHF distribution for freeview

Hi guys i currently have a uhf aerial receiving freeview UHF from Wharite in palmy getting great signal of 98% with a single tv plugged in. I currently have two tvs receiving the signal from the uhf aerial. From the uhf aerial it goes to a splitter from the splitter goes to 2 coaxial feeds to 2 different locations in the house each with tvs with built in freeview. the signal however drops to around 50% which is still fine with me.I would like to add another 2 coaxial feeds going to another 2 bedrooms where tvs will be located with built in freeview HD however i am worried that with these extra feeds the signal may drop to low. Would i be able to buy a masthead amplifier to amplify the signal?

I used to SonicBox to receive Optus D2 channels. The installation was done by a specialist. I think the dish is now set in the correct direction. However, I'm having problems with the following settings:Simply put, I do not know which values to select. Any help is greatly appreciated. tt
